Resolutions will be discussed tonight at 8:30 hearings

The Process we use to consider resolutions at the Conference is similar to what is used at UCC General Synod.  Qualifying resolutions are scheduled for a hearing at the Conference.  Participants discuss the resolution and decide whether to recommend it to the full Conference as is, turn it down or amend it and recommend it for passage.  Here is the text of the resolutions that will be looked at tonight.

Resolution for Just and Equitable Tax Structure in Washington
Resolution for Abolishing Tax Structure
Resoultion Affirming Health Care Coverage for Clergy Families

Also, their is an amendment to the UCC Constitution that each Conference must consider related to procedures around ministerial authorization.  Here is the text of this amendment:

Online UCC Community Prays for our Annual Meeting

A prayer request for PNC’s annual meeting was posted yesterday in the prayer forum at http://i.UCC.org, and I wanted to let you know that, beginning Thursday, the online community will be praying with and for you, the Conference staff and all of the delegates during our real-time Prayer Chapel at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. (Pacific time).

Do you love the UCC?

I don't know if you can love a denomination. I do know that the United Church of Christ has inched me toward understanding the unconditional love of God. We must be free to respond to love! We must be free to take our own path to seek truth! We must not allow any human person or group to narrowly define God or determine God's judgments. The UCC has helped me see these possibilities. Such a rich perspective the UCC has brought to me. Thank you to the UCC for expanding the dimensions to my life's journey.
