Video of our Keynoters -- Melissa Woo and Melanie Morrison

Well...your Annual Media Media Group is learning so much. I am still learning how to present a powerpoint presentation in this Blog environment with audio...making progress but don't have it right yet. In the meantime, one of our video guru's on team has figured out how to have a lengthy video on You Tube... so now I present to you our Keynote presentation from this years Annual Meeting.

  1. I can certainly agree that racism is still happening in our world. It continues to be as prevelant as nationalism, or cliqueism. It's seems to be rooted in the human desire to belong somewhere (and the "need" for "our" somewhere to be better than someone else's somewhere), or a case of thinking someone else's somewhere is better than our own.
I agree that much work is still needed to erase this kind of thinking.
But what I don't agree on is the statement I heard that "this is a White problem". It's is obvious to me that the symptoms of racism belong to all.
I just read an article in the newspaper that was about a "Black" organization in Chicago is advocating the patronage of only "Black owned businesses". This is meant to lift up "the Black people" so they too can achieve wealth, as stated by "the Black Chamber of Commerce".
These are all words and acts of racism. This is only one example of how racism belongs to everyone.
I believe that the great majority of people on this planet are indeed becoming more aware of the root cause of most forms of racism, the need to be better off than someone else, or "Greed". It always comes down to someone having and someone else wanting.
I know there are many more contributing factors, but I believe this may be the root.
While the racism of 40-100yrs ago was more driven out of ignorance and fear(caused by ignorance), people are now much more aware of other cultures and are more likely to celebrate them than to condemn them out of fear.
When people finally figure out that we are All Just People and are way more alike than different... and then there is this Greed thing.
