Remembering Silverity Madrazo

On Saturday morning, Mike Denton shared remembrances of Silversity Madrazo who died April 20th. She was 74 and a member of Bethany UCC Seattle but had recently been participating at Wayside UCC in Federal Way. Silversity had courageously lived with cancer for many years but continued to be active in church and community, and serving on Conference committees.
She was ordained in 1959 in the Philippines and served as a missionary couple with her husband Carlos, to whom she married in 1960. She served as a missionary in Nepal and Bangladesh. She also served in Chicago as an Associate Minister of the Philippine American Ecumenical UCC, in Yakima, at the Yakima Indian Christian Mission. She taught in the Seattle schools. Her ministerial standing has been in this Conference since 1987.
