Hello again from Cleveland

Hi~
This is Susan Andresen sending greetings to my brothers and sisters in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Church of Christ from the Church House here in Cleveland. It has been an amazing day! We were asked to share what we learned today with those at home in our conferences, so here are a few highlights:
  • Worship in Amistad Chapel was and is beautiful.
  • We have many, many wonderful folks doing lots of awesome things in youth ministry across the country.
  • I have lots of ideas and information to share with everyone. I know that Dana Sprenkle and Margaret Irribarra do too.
  • Ever heard of the term emerging church? I had, but it is hard to explain. I've attached a link we watched on youtube that is one of the best summaries I have heard.
  • Together we can do the work! Direct quote from Steven Sterner, Local Church Ministries.
  • We learned about the importance of 'deep listening' from Geoffrey Black, UCC President.
  • It was very windy today in Cleveland.
Anyhow, it has been a wonderful day in Cleveland. Would love to hear your thoughts or comments and thanks for the e-mails I received from a few folks today. God is still speaking. Good night!

  1. Hey there!
Great reporting Susan! It has been an amazing experience here and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in community with all these fabulous folks doing youth ministry! I love all the surges of energy when someone says something that we all resonate with! Thank goodness we're not alone!
It was very windy today - our pictures can prove it!
    Now there's a giant thunderstorm.

    Goodnight!

  2. The youtube post is Phyllis Tickle, "The Great Emergence," for anyone who'd like to read it, but who is not able to get the link I included to work.
